1. Important Update for EU Customers Regarding New Safety Regulations
Starting December 13, 2024, the European Union is introducing new General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR). These changes will affect small businesses like ours, especially for shipments to the EU and Northern Ireland. Here’s a simple breakdown of what’s happening and how it will affect Ocean In Space:
-
GSPR Requirements means:
- Products must include specific safety labels and certifications.
- Safety documentation and test results must be made available upon request.
- An EU-based Authorized Representative is required to manage safety compliance and act on behalf of the seller.
-
Impact on Small Businesses:
- These regulations apply to all non-food products sold to the EU, no matter the platform used to sell them.
- Many small businesses are choosing to pause EU shipments due to the complexity and costs of compliance.
-
Our Approach:
- We will continue fulfilling EU orders until December 19, 2024. The new regulations won’t impact products shipped before this date.
- After December 19, 2024: We will temporarily pause shipments to the EU and Northern Ireland until clearer guidance and processes are available for small businesses.
We know this may be disappointing for our EU customers, and we deeply appreciate your understanding as we work through these challenges. We’re hopeful to revisit EU shipping in the future once the regulations are clarified and feasible for small businesses like ours.
We will keep you updated on this page of any changes.
Thank you for your support and patience!
2. Shipping Update for Canadian Orders
Updated January 11th
We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding regarding recent shipping delays. Due to the Canada Post strike in late 2024, there has been a significant backlog of Canadian orders.
As of December 17, 2024, USPS began processing the backlog, but they were unable to accept any new orders from Canada Post at that time. It wasn't until January 6, 2025, that USPS resumed accepting new shipments bound for Canada.
As a result, while the Canada Post strike officially ended on December 17, some Canadian orders may not begin shipping until after January 6.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and assure you that we are working diligently to get your orders delivered as quickly as possible. Thank you for your continued support and patience!
